Are Miele's Countertop Coffee Machines Super-Automatics, and What Separates the CM5, CM6 and CM7?
Summary
Yes. Miele sells them as countertop bean-to-cup coffee machines, and its U.S. category page says they are "also considered superautomatic espresso machines." The six current U.S. listings come from four models: the CM 5310 Silence at $2,199, the CM 6160 and CM 6360 MilkPerfection at $2,699 and $2,999, and the CM 7750 CoffeeSelect at $4,499. Moving up the range buys a different milk setup, more saved user profiles, more bean containers and, only on the CM 7750, a machine that descales itself.

All four list a conical grinder, a removable brew unit, OneTouch for Two and automatic rinsing of the milk pipework from the water container.
CM 5310 to CM 6360
The CM 5310's selling point is noise. Miele says its grinding is "50% quieter" than the CM5300 it replaces. It has no milk container in the box; Miele sells a glass one for it as a $99.99 accessory. Its page does not mention WiFiConn@ct or user profiles.
The CM6 models add WiFiConn@ct and Miele@home, a larger water tank, bean container and grounds container, and what Miele calls "19 drink settings," including six teas. The CM 6160 and CM 6360 have the same dimensions, capacities and 15 bar pump. The $300 between them pays for the 0.7 L glass milk container, twice the user profiles (8 against 4) and the heated FlexCare cup rack. For the CM 6160, Miele says the glass flask is "available for purchase."
What the CM 7750 adds for $1,500 more
CoffeeSelect is three bean containers in one machine, holding 150 g, 210 g and 180 g, so a household can keep a dark roast, a light roast and decaf loaded at once. AutoDescale works with a descaling cartridge that comes in the box, where the other three models are descaled by hand. Miele also lists a CupSensor that "recognizes the cup rim and alters the position of the central spout," ten user profiles, 20 tea and coffee specialties and a teapot function. The CM 7750 is the largest of the four at 12 1/4 in wide, 16 5/8 in high and 17 5/8 in deep, against 9 1/2 by 14 1/4 by 18 1/8 in for the CM 5310.
Built-in CVA machines are sold differently
Miele also makes built-in coffee machines, the CVA range. Its U.S. site lists 13 built-in listings across the CVA 7370, 7440, 7445, 7775, 7840, 7845 and 7875. None shows a price; each is "sold exclusively through authorized Miele retail partners," and all of them sit in the site's $4,000-and-up price band. Four of the models, the CVA 7445, 7775, 7845 and 7875, carry the DirectWater label.
