Is the Philips Series 1200 Any Different From the Series 800?
Summary
Not in anything Philips publishes for the U.S. models, the Series 800 EP0820/04 and the Series 1200 EP1220/04. Both product pages list the same two drinks, the same Classic Milk Frother, the same three My Coffee Choice settings and a touch display, and the two share one pool of customer reviews and one Quick Start Guide. The only line that sets them apart is on the 1200 page, which says the AquaClean filter "is not included." Neither machine appears in Philips' own U.S. online store.
What the two product pages list
| Series 800 EP0820/04 | Series 1200 EP1220/04 | |

| Milk | Classic Milk Frother | Classic Milk Frother |
| Strength and quantity | My Coffee Choice, three settings | My Coffee Choice, three settings |
| Controls | Touch display | Touch display |

| AquaClean filter | No statement | "not included" |
| Warranty | 2 years | 2 years |
Philips says the Classic Milk Frother "dispenses steam" for milk froth and has "only two parts" to clean, so milk is frothed by hand in a pitcher or cup, and neither page lists a milk carafe. The listed accessories are identical on both pages, down to the Brita Intenza+ filter cartridge and the CA6706/48 maintenance kit with two descaler packs and two water filters.
The pages differ in their copy more than in their features. Only the 800 page mentions descaling, saying "you can adjust the frequency of this procedure to match the water hardness at home," and only the 800 page shows an award badge. The 1200 page says nothing about descaling either way. The review section is shared: both pages show the same 67 reviews, and most of the reviews on the 800 page are marked as written for the Series 1200 EP1220.
Where the numbers stop
Grinder settings, water tank size and bean hopper capacity for these two models are not on Philips' U.S. site. The Technical Specifications heading on each page has no rows under it, and the support pages list two documents, a UK declaration of conformity and a Quick Start Guide dated May 27, 2026. That guide is almost entirely drawings, and its title lists 16 model numbers from the EP0810 through the EP1220 to EP1224, the 2200 and 2300 series and the EP3221 and EP3226, so the 800 and 1200 are documented as members of one family.
Philips' U.S. store lists nine espresso machines, none of them an 800 or a 1200. Its fully automatic EP models start with the Series 2300 EP2330/14 at a regular price of $699.99 and continue with the 3300 (EP3347/90) at $899.99 and the 5500 (EP5544/94) at $1,299.99. An 800 or 1200 bought in the U.S. therefore comes from a retailer, at that retailer's price and on its return terms. Philips' pages state a two-year warranty for both.
